NHS pay out £7 million to 12 year old

A 12 year old boy has been compensated one of the biggest NHS medical negligence payouts after he was left brain damaged at birth as a result of an NHS error.

The boy was awarded £7 million when a doctor made the "wrong decision" during the delivery in 1997.

The "wrong decision" lead to the delay of a Caesarean section. The boy now requires round the clock care for a lifetime and is left in a wheelchair as a result of cerebral palsy.

The boy's mum stated that the compensation has made a significant difference to their lives.

She said: "We have worried for years about what will happen to him if I was ill, or if something happened to us, so it is a huge weight off our shoulders to now know he will always be looked after."
