Man wins £20,000 in compensation

A man has received £20,000 in compensation after filing a no win no fee claim when he suffered a hernia as a result of negligence from his employer.

The man, who had been working in a manufacturing firm, had been handling heavy goods weighing from 25 to 50 lbs on a daily basis.

His job role required him to manually lift the items from a conveyor belt onto pallets. However, the man developed a hernia as a result of the constant lifting of heavy weights and underwent an operation.

He was unable to continue his job role as he suffered from pain in the groin after returning to work.

He was transferred to another role which required less lifting yet was still suffering from pain and as a result, he underwent a second operation.

According to injury lawyers, the man's employer failed to carry our an adequate risk assessment, failed to provide equipment to help lift the items and failed to provide manual handling training.
