Motorists consider economical cars

More Brits are turning to economical vehicles to help drive down costs, it has been revealed.

According to research by car insurance provider, Swinton, as the recession causes an increase in the amount of personal debt for Brits, customers are taking into consideration five main factors before purchasing a vehicle in order to save more cash.

Customers found that the price of the vehicle, car insurance premiums, cost of petrol, road tax and repairs were important.

Steve Chelton, insurer development manager for Swinton, said: "With the current financial climate, people are thinking long and hard before committing themselves to buying a new or used car.”
