Crash for cash leader jailed

A group leader of a crash for cash insurance scam has been jailed after an attempt to receive £82,000 in compensation, it has been revealed.

Musharaf Dean had been sentenced to 18 months after being found guilty of conspiracy to defraud a car insurance firm.

The 32 year old had been caught with the rest of his gang when they had made a false insurance claim with two other drivers, David Sleigh and Caroline Catley.

However, their dreams of receiving any compensation were shattered after a vehicle examiner found that their story didn’t match up with the damage on the cars.

Instead, they had been fined £2,800 each and were ordered to carry out community work.
