Homeowners feel let down by the government

Despite the recent reduction of interest rates to 0.5 per cent, more homeowners have revealed that they are disappointed with the government.

With tracker mortgage customers able to benefit from the recent cuts, other homeowners are left feeling let down by the government after the launch of a mortgage support scheme had been postponed by over three months.

Originally planned to be launched in early December, the Homeowner Mortgage Support Scheme has been postponed to be launched in April this year.

Furthermore, experts believe that not all homeowners will be able to benefit from the scheme as it underlines tight qualification criteria.

SNP Treasury spokesman Stewart Hosie said: "Firstly, Baroness Vadera revealed that only a tiny percentage of the small business protection scheme has been rolled out, then as the UK Government struggles to agree the terms of the bank asset protection scheme, the Lloyds share price plummets…. And now, we discover that help for struggling homeowners is still not yet up and running."
