Bike insurer refuses to cover stolen bike

A schoolboy has been refused compensation from his bike insurer after it was stolen just three days after receiving it for his 10th birthday.

Despite having had purchased the bike with bike insurance, the boy's mum was refused another bike from the insurance firm on the basis that the bike was left unsecured.

She said: "I filled in the claim form with as much detail as possible, but they won't replace the bike."

The BMX Boss Snarl bike had been stolen from their back garden.

The mother said: "You wouldn't think you'd have to lock a bike up when it's in your own garden.

It was well out of the way of public view, so it couldn't have just been an opportunist theif who's passed by."
