The pothole debate- who do you blame?

The growing number of potholes in England and Scotland is raising a number of questions in regards to who we should blame.

According to a spokesperson for the Local Government Association, it is the no-win-no-fee lawyers who are preventing authorities from repairing the problem, and therefore they’re to blame.

However, looking beyond the statement, £52.3 million was spent on repairing potholes last year, that’s about 853,6141 potholes.

So, with the growing number of potholes around Scotland and England, it can only be suggested that the authorities are not taking enough action to prevent them from coming back.

Edmund King, president of AA Insurance said: “Restoring the road surface and stopping the re-emergence of potholes through proper maintenance has lagged by an ever-increasing amount.”

And so what if someone wants to claim compensation for a whiplash injury because of a road accident caused by a pothole.

Maybe if the authorities had done the right job in the first place instead of cutting corners, the UK’s roads wouldn’t be in such a state.
