Council in multi-million pound law suit

Leeds City Council is to face a multi-million pound law suit after failing to provide appropriate warning signs at an accident hot spot, it has been revealed.
Despite a number of pile-ups leaving several commuters suffering from personal injuries near a Leeds Grammar School, the council had still not placed any signs to warn drivers of potential hazards.
Despite a number of car insurance firms paying out damages to drivers, the providers stated that the council is liable as it does not warn motorists of the roundabout which causes traffic queues.
Insurers stated that the queues are so bad, that a significant number of car accidents have taken place. One man had even become paralysed as a result of an accident.
It was also stated that there is an accident black-spot where there is a bend in the road where vehicles usually crash into long traffic queues.
As a result, insurers are calling for the council to compensate the victims of these accidents.
However, the council is stating that is it not negligent for the accidents.
A Leeds City Council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the council is denying any liability for this accident and, as legal proceedings are currently ongoing, we are unable to comment further at this time."
