The number of women smoking whilst pregnant across Britain has led to the launch of a new campaign by the NHS.
The campaign aims to make the to-be mums aware of the affects smoking can have on their child.
Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches the child resulting in health and growth problems.
A doctor backing the campaign said: “Pregnancy can be a particularly difficult time to stop smoking - and rather than stigmatising these women, we should be guiding them to their local NHS Stop Smoking Service for expert advice and support to help them quit."
