A woman who was left in pain and disfigured after a botched breast reconstructive surgery has received compensation.
The woman, aged 53 was diagnosed with breast cancer a month before undergoing a mastectomy of the right breast.
Following the operation, she underwent reconstructive surgery.
However, according to the woman, the hospital made a number of mistakes which left her in severe discomfort and pain.
The implant which was agreed to be placed under the muscle on ther chest was instead placed directly under the skin.
After the delayed removal of the implant, the woman ended up suffering from an infection and required a further three operations and a number of visits to the hospital as a result.
The woman filed a professional negligence claim against the surgeon and received an undisclosed amount in compensation.
