An uninsured driver has been given a 12 month driving ban after using his friend's company van to get some cigarettes.
The unemployed 19 year old ended up having the van written off after slamming it into the back of another vehicle.
He told the court that he had been driving the van without van insurance or concent from his flatmate or his flatmates employer.
He stated that he just popped out to pick up some cigarettes from the shop.
As a result, he was ordered to pay £300 for insurance excess and was banned from driving for 12 months.
He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid community service.
