Sainsbury’s driver claims for £5,000

A Sainsbury’s delivery driver is seeking £5,000 in compensation from a couple after claiming he had received personal injuries during a home delivery, it has been revealed.

The driver had been unable to work for a month when he suffered from a “soft tissue injury” to his left hand as the result of falling down a ramp in the couple’s garden.

The couple, who are denying liability, stated that the driver seemed “fine” after the fall.

They received a letter from a no win no fee firm stating that they had failed to meet the requirements of the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 as they were unsuccessful in ensuring their home was safe for the driver to visit by “negligently failing to provide a substantial handrail.”

The couple, who are looking to defend themselves if the case is taken to court, have been advised to go through insurance.
