Citi credit card customers may be entitled to claim compensation after being “misled” on its terms and conditions, it has been revealed.
Following an investigation of the firm’s terms and conditions, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) stated that the firm had been misleading its customers into believing that it did not share liability for any credit card purchases made abroad.
Citi had stated that credit card use overseas will not be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
However, a ruling by the Court of Appeal had been upheld which stretched Section 75 to apply to transactions made overseas since March 22nd 2006.
Citi will now be required to inform those who may have been misled.
