Was it my fault?

Just like how I never like to be wrong, I also hate being at fault. I recently hit a car from the back after over-taking two busses and the car in front randomly stopped...stupid I know. I had my car written off and I know it's the fault of whoever hits the car from the behind but the other car randomly breaked. And all those stories on how people fake car accidents for car insurance scams, just makes me wonder, was it really my fault? ..Probably was but makes me feel better knowing there's a slight chance it wasn't.
