Mortgage lending drops nearly 50 per cent

Mortgage lending has soared by a further 30 per cent last month reaching its lowest level since 2001, new research has shown. According to figures by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, lending had dropped by 47 per cent within the space of a year. Experts believe figures to fall further throughout 2009.
